What is a CCA?
Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is an energy program that allows local governments to make decisions about their power supply. Members of a CCA program come together and use collective bargaining to lower their cost of procurement. By purchasing energy for all members of the CCA, the program administrators can negotiate with energy service companies.
Members continue to have their power delivered to them by their existing utility through the existing transmission and distribution lines. Sun & Energy simply takes responsibility for sourcing and purchasing the power to be delivered.
Members of the Sun & Energy CCA Program can expect to save 5-15% on their energy bills, without having to do any work at all.
Say Hello to Renewable Energy
In addition to negotiating for cheaper energy, the CCA can make decisions about what type of energy gets purchased. Given that the CCA is run on a local level, the local residents have a direct say in what kind of energy future they want.
Sun & Energy is committed to bringing the cost savings from renewable energy to the residents of New York. In addition to sourcing cheap renewable power from energy providers whenever possible, Sun & Energy is dedicated to bringing new solar energy facilities into the energy mix. CCA members can expect to be enrolled in Community Distributed Generation (CDG) and/or Remote-Net Metering (RNM) programs. These programs will provide cheap solar power to all CCA members who chose the Solar+ Plan. Opt-out Members can choose exit the solar portion of the program if they desire, at any time penalty free. After all, CCAs are all about CHOICE!
The No-Hassle Path to Solar
In the Sun & Energy Program electricity is still delivered to CCA members through the utility powerlines, and the utility will still continue to send customers their monthly bills. CCA members will experience no change in their day-to-day electric service. The only difference residents and business notice is the decrease in their electric bill.
